Paramore singer Hayley Williams and former My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way have come to Frances Bean Cobain’s defense after the media criticised Cobain for the way she looked, saying she looked sick at the Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck screening. Cobain took to Twitter to call out media reports speculating on her health and appearance, calling the articles the result of a “slow news day.”

Apparently I’m not well because I dressed like morticia Addams last night and am pale? Okay media spin cycle, okay. #slownewsday

The accusations came after the debut of Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck . Both Hayley Williams and Gerard Way replied to her tweet within minutes; both offered Cobain words of encouragement and criticized the reports.

@alka_seltzer666 I get psyched every time ppl don’t understand how I dress. It’s like they’re congratulating you for being your own! Go you

Frances Bean Cobain, an executive producer of the Cobain documentary, addressed the L.A. crowd and applauded director Brett Morgen.

“After seeing it, I thought I could only watch it once. But the film that [Morgen] made — I didn’t know Kurt, but he would be exceptionally proud of it. It touches some dark subjects, but it provides a basic understanding of who he was as a human, and that’s been lost. I think that’s been lost within the romanticism of him and the myth of him and his story.”

She recently sat down with Rolling Stone and discussed what life was like after her father’s passing, a recent documentary she produced about her father, and her relationship with her mother, Courtney Love. Interestingly, the interview marks the first time the 22-year-old has opened up about the death of her father.

“Kurt got to the point where he eventually had to sacrifice every bit of who he was to his art, because the world demanded it of him,” she said in the interview. “I think that was one of the main triggers as to why he felt he didn’t want to be here and everyone would be happier without him.”
