Sinead O’Connor has been found, and she is safe. The Chicago Tribune reports that Wilmette police confirmed that O’Connor was found in a press release shared at around 1:45 p.m. The release simply stated that the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer was not harmed but did not offer further details on where she was found or what had happened to her in the over 24 hours that she had been feared missing.

Deputy Chief Kyle Perkins stated that the police would not hold a press conference on the incident and that they will not release any more information related to O’Connor’s disappearance.

According to The Chicago Tribune , it looks like Sinead O’Connor went on a bike ride on Sunday at 6 a.m and did not return home by the same time Monday morning. In the description that authorities gave of her before she was found, she was said to be wearing a black parka, black leather pants, and a sweatshirt with “Ireland” written on the back. At the time, police said that she could be suicidal.

“We generated an information bulletin for local law enforcement, which has apparently made its way to social media,” said Wilmette Police Chief, Brian King. “Officers conducted checks of the area in which she was last observed, including parks and beaches.”

The Chicago Tribune reports that an anonymous music industry source confirmed that Sinead O’Connor had been living in Wilmette, Chicago, since February. She had even performed in the area, lending her voice at a local David Bowie Tribute concert in March.

Apparently, there may have been clues to the personal issues that could have triggered her disappearance.

On Sunday, O’Connor used her public Facebook page to discuss what seems like a very private legal issue.

“Jake, kindly go to the court on Tuesday and take custody your brother from Tusla. My lawyer will be making the illegal way yourself and Donal got him into Tusla (lying to the cops etc) known to the judge. expect to be in trouble,” she wrote. “In fact you’d best bring a lawyer of your own. And do not abandon your brother or any other of my babies again. What you have done to your brother and your mother is LITERALLY criminal.”

According to The Daily Mail, the “Tusla” she mentions is a child protective service of Ireland. Sinead O’Connor’s youngest son Shane is living in their custody. It’s the root of a battle that has been raging for sometime now between O’Connor and her oldest son, Jake Reynolds, and Shane’s father Donal Lummy.

O’Connor has written cryptic messages about family issues like this on her Facebook page before. As The Daily Mail notes, O’Connor posted what many thought was her suicide note on Facebook late last year. In the note, she told the world that she had taken an overdose of pills and that she was retaliating against her family’s cruelty.

The situation seems to have been weighing heavy on her mind recently. The Daily Mail reports days before her disappearance, Sinead O’Connor posted an open letter to Shane on Facebook.

“Baby, I’ve been trying to get you out of care but Tusla are being monsters. I have to back off because they are hurting me so badly I get unwell again if I go near them,” she wrote. “The best thing I can do is advise you get a solicitor of your own which you are now entitled to because you are 12 and bring a case of your own against Tusla, under the Children’s rights clauses of the constitution.”

Sinead O’Connor also recently accused Arsenio Hall of supplying Prince with drugs. The allegation prompted Hall to file a $5 million lawsuit against her for defamation.
