Things were going okay for Jay Culter and the Chicago Bears for a little while on Sunday, but then Cutler threw an interception and it all went downhill from there. First, the interception that Cutler threw was returned for a touchdown, then while trying to make a play on the ball carrier, Cutler suffered an injury and was forced to leave the game.

NFL Network reporter James Palmer tweeted that what was initially believed to be a shoulder injury or a concussion was actually a leg issue.

Before the interception, Cutler had eight pass attempts and completed all of them. Jay threw for 120 yards and a touchdown to Josh Bellamy. The interception came on a second and nine play, where Cutler tossed the ball down the middle trying to connect with Martellus Bennett, but instead, the ball wound up in the hands of Arizona Cardinals safety Tony Jefferson, who promptly scampered into the endzone. Cutler tried to make a tackle, but landed awkwardly and had to leave the game.

In an increasing trend among football fans, and now reporters, Cutler received little sympathy after getting hurt. ESPN ‘s Stephen A. Smith shared this tweet about Cutler moments after he left the game.

OMG! Did y’all here the terrible news? Jay Cutler had to leave the game — after throwing an INT! Awww! I hope he’s okay:/). #WasteOfTimeQB

With Cutler out, the Bears had to turn Jimmy Clausen. Clausen played in four games for the Bears last season and threw for two touchdowns and one interception. Jimmy had one start last year, a 20-14 loss to the Detroit Lions.

NFL.com is reporting that Cutler returned to the sidelines to watch the game, but the extent of his injury is currently unknown. If Jay Cutler is out for an extended period of time, the Bears would likely look outside of the organization for help at quarterback.
