Mr. Selfridge actor Jeremy Piven appeared at a charity event for the survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel but the material he chose reportedly fell flat.

The Daily Mail reported that Piven wasn’t on stage long, and he managed to offend many of the people in the audience at the $450 a plate dinner. The outlet posits that the majority of the survivors of domestic abuse and sex-trafficking were women, yet Piven used off-color language and told what amounted to dirty jokes, and was then surprised when the reaction was less than favorable.

But not all accounts of the event are in line with that of the Daily Mail and it’s alleged source. The event’s organizers reached out to the Inquisitr to clarify.

“We have video footage of Jeremy’s stand up act at the gala that shows that the audience is laughing and no one is offended by what he said,” the organizer said.

It seems the Inquisitr isn’t the only outlet to hear about the lack of outrage resulting from the event. Page Six quotes the organizer as well, adding further doubt to the reported raucous reaction.

“‘Nothing fell flat, and he never threw a tantrum. He was the host, it wasn’t like he did a 20 minute set. He had two to three minutes of talk time to open the show,’ the organizer said, adding that Piven, 53, introduced guests and was self-deprecating in his humor.”

“There are photos of him with survivors. People took photos of him with the event, and he couldn’t have been nicer,” the organizer added. “He did exactly what he was supposed to do. He did great. It’s the complete polar opposite of what they said in that room. He didn’t bomb. He was hosting. He helped us raise $500,000. There was no bomb.”

As previously reported by Inquisitr , Jeremy Piven’s series, Wisdom of the Crowd was canceled after women came forward to accuse him of sexual harassment and assault. Amidst the scandal, Piven’s appearance on the Late Show was scrapped because nothing had been settled with the matter.

“Jeremy Piven’s interview for Friday’s broadcast was pre-taped earlier this week on Monday, Oct. 30. Since we were unable to address recent developments in that interview, we are replacing that segment with a new guest.”

Jeremy Piven has denied that he has ever assaulted any woman, and he has questioned the motives of those making the allegations.
