Gwyneth Paltrow confessed, “I’m never going again,” after attending Monday night’s celebrity-packed Met Gala. The 40-year-old actress seemed wholly unimpressed with her experience at the annual New York City event, and seems to have ruffled a few feathers with comments she made afterwards.
“I’m never going again. It was so un-fun,” Paltrow explained to USA Today . “It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all.” Her blatantly honest take on the evening was met with a bit of backlash from media outlets that essentially dubbed the actress a “party-pooper.”
Paltrow also appeared to shun the theme of this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Ball, “Punk: From Chaos to Couture.”
While most attendees added a bit of rebellious flare to their designer ensembles, Paltrow donned a demure Valentino Haute Couture pink gown, paired with equally conservative Wilfredo Rosado earrings.
Considering that Vogue editor and fashion heavyweight Anna Wintour has reportedly referred to pink as the “color of punk,” Paltrow’s color choice for the evening seems to be the only aspect of the theme she got right.
Although the pink dress worn by Paltrow may have won points with Wintour, the actress who claims “I’m never going again,” ended up on several worst-dressed lists the next day.
“I guess it’s punk in that I’ve gone just totally classic on a punk night,” she cheekily explained while defending the look to Vogue , which hosted the event.
While Paltrow found the ball experience miserable enough to conclude, “I’m never going again,” she didn’t cut out of the festivities as soon as one might expect. Instead, she reportedly followed up the soiree by attending the equally star-studded after party , held at the Standard Hotel’s Boom Boom Room.
